FWR:

Clever use of the fence in the background hides the stem and makes this beautifully delicate seed head appear to be floating. Very nice eye for detail.

bobstafford:

The background had been chosen well, and the Allium appears to hover in front of the wood behind. It makes you think and that is always good. Clever shot.

I would like to grow this kind of plant some day. It's fascinating in close-ups.

Thanks everyone! smiley - biggrin

Yes, I found this one was a particularly fascinating episode in the Black and White Challenge - seen in colour with my eyes, the flower was nice enough, but in black and white the scene was completely different! Very educational about how textures can stand out or blend in smiley - ok

Plants in the Allium family have many good points. I tried to grow Ramps in my yard this Spring, but none of them survived. smiley - sadface There are other native Allium plants I could try, but Summer is not the best time to plant them. Spring and Fall are best, so I'm waiting a month or two.
