"The New York World" wrote of Irving Berlin as "this virtuoso of syncopation who introduced cow bells, tin pans, squawkers, rattles, and other election-night musical instruments into the modern dance orchestra."

He also mentioned cows and cattle in some of his songs.

"If I went to battle with someone's herd of cattle,
You'd have steak when the job was done...."

What an imagination he had. In his later life, he was frustrated because his kind of music was no longer in vogue. It was a long period of frustration, as he lived to be more than 100.

See, what I have done is what you can hope your readers will do: get hooked on some part of the entry, and go off exploring to their heart's content. Maybe they'll discover an interest in Irving Berlin or Annie Oakley's herd of cattle. Life is an adventure waiting for you!
