It is incredible, how persistent satnav can be in trying to send you back the way you came, even if you know a better way. Maybe an obligatory "I know better!"-button could be introduced?

Just don't tell the insurance companies or they will require a log of when you took responsibility.

We already have a car insurance company here where you can have their black box installed to get a lower premium (or higher if the box says so). Apparently they try to evaluate your driving style and extrapolate the risk from that.
