Good luck with both of your missions. The policy hunting and the caring itself.
Makes me want to check out my own employer for when the time comes.

Just checked my employer. It seems to be OK, they sure have a policy. I just don't know if it covers all eventualities. Basically it says: arrange it with your manager, so that you can either work less, or at home, or more flexible (use overtime to cover the gaps), reduce responsibilities to keep your hands free, those kind of things. There are also some unpaid leave and temporary help schemes through national rules available (Netherlands)

I don't know about the Netherlands Caiman but by UK standards that sounds reasonably comprehensive. It's difficult to be too rigid with this sort of policy I think, because situations and demands will vary from one individual to the next.

On the other hand, a few years ago funding for most care (Youth services, professional home care, education for disabled, etc.) was moved from national to local level, and the total budget was cut drastically at the same time. That was a major disaster, because now the level of care depends on how big / rich your community is. Lots of contracts had to be renegotiated, leading to massive loss of jobs initially and reduction of the quality of care... If you need care across the community boundary, you have to hope for cooperation.

Good luck indeed - that is the way to get companies to think about their policies
Public Sector tends to be quite good in that regard, I think - certainly I had no problems getting the reasonable adjustments I need as a disabled person in my current job even though it entailed some inconvenience for them.
