You'd think that Theseus would end up marrying Ariadne, but there's always a curve ball coming at young Mediterranean lovers. Usually those meddling Gods or Goddesses are involved -- shamelessly, of course! Theseus ditched Ariadne and shacked up with Ariadne's younger sister instead. Taking pity on her, Dionysos wed her instead.
And, wouldn't you know, there are variations on these stories, so you can't figure out what really happened anyway.
