Is this a French or European painting?

The gun/musket in the background appears to be a generic European issue, I do not think its a British Brown Bess.
The stock goes up to the muzzle, this means the shoulder strap is mounted differently.
The lock and the serpent is also of a different design, the bayonet although mounted in a similar way it is of heaver design and attached to close to the muzzle.
