Mystery Photo: Answer

Optical nerves up close and personal.

These are the Post Editor's optic nerves, as photographed by some high-tech equipment the nice optometrist has. She allowed me to snap a pic from the computer screen. No, those are not normal optic nerves. Normal optic nerves are nice and round, with clear, smooth edges. Normal optic nerves don't have pseudopapilledema and these drusen. Drusen are kind of like barnacles. They make little pinholes in the vision, too. But they aren't getting any worse, and that's a mercy.

Anyway, since I had to pay extra for the photos, I figured y'all might as well get a gander at them. Now you know something.

PS: Yes, the eyelashes look creepy.
