I know what you mean the grey hair, the aches, the tiredness.
But there are probably things you've learnt - quite possibly the hard way. Like the understanding that there are hundreds of ways to live and, although some of them are harmful, most of them are just different.
And there are things you can do, or still do. I'm a passable cook, I can still write and ride a bicycle!

I've grown pessimistic, too. Some years it's the only thing I've been *able* to grow. At least the bunnies don't eat pessimism's leaves.

I think pessimists have a role in society.
There's so much pressure on people to think positively and be 'can-do' people', but unbridled optimism can lead to disaster. (Think of the boom that preceded the financial crash in 2008.) We need a few pessimists to say 'but what happens if..."
