When I and 2 mates holidayed in Los Angeles 
we visited Las Vegas for a weekend and in a casino I was on a slot machineand it was paying out
A young black lady in the centre of the machines "asked" if I was going to "look after" her - for "putting me on a winning machine ?
IE: a tip of course
BUT! being me! 
and a Yorkshireman, I replied - yeah of course! What time do you knock off ?
SHE
with the speed of a bolt of lightening ? and another girl took over 
I found out! a day or so later
that! "knocking off" and various forms means 110% different to Yorkshire/northern speak
least to say - asking for sexis sort of different to finishing early from work

Ah, yes, I remember our very distinguished linguistics Professor at University telling us about the time he was at a convention and a female convention-goer was staying at the same hotel, and they decided to meet up for breakfast the next day.
But they still hadn't said when precisely he should knock on her door to wake her up.
So, before retiring for the night, he naturally asked her "What time shall I knock you up, then?"...
