I think elephants feet are too big to climb over the door using these spikes. So maybe it's an elephant filter. You could also use it for statistical experiments, dropping balls down to see where they end up. Just make sure not to puncture the balls.

Yes, I suppose the common size doorway is a more humane/elephantane solution as a filter.
