The problem for humourists in Britain today who want to make fun of the government is that they have to address the issue of Brexit.
And Brexit is this fiendishly complicated business which involves serious Frenchmen in Brussels, fishermen in Aberdeen, Spanish traders in Gibraltar, Polish baristas in London, civil servants in Whitehall, English students in Paris, truckers crossing the border in Ireland, Uncle Tom Cobley and all!

I like humor that takes me away from reality. I don;t *want* to think about Lord Mudpants or kids who shoot other kids in schools, or protests against relocating the Jewish embassy in Jerusalem.
Give me Groucho Marx replying to Margaret Dumont.
Margaret: I didn;t come here to be insulted.
groucho: Oh? Where do you usually go?

Then I suspect you might not have liked Groucho quite as much when the movies first came out. Some of that stuff had topical relevance at the time - think about the way they trashed the immigration control in one film. The Marx Brothers are definitely speaking truth to power - it's just that you may not recognise it because power relationships have changed. They were definitely pushing the envelope in their day.
