This reminds me of once walking through concrete Milton Keynes, humming "Bittersweet symphony" of "The Verve" in the sure and happy knowledge that it was only for a few days.
If you happen to like roundabouts, Milton Keynes is the place to be.

I like Bittersweet Symphony - your mention of it takes me back to my teenage years when I used to hear it over and over
"If you happen to like roundabouts, Milton Keynes is the place to be"
I've only passed through on the train myself so I haven't experienced those delights!

Sasha, do you know the poem by Gerald Manley Hopkins called 'Pied Beauty'? I think this expresses the need for sunshine and showers.

That is a lovely poem - I have vague memory that I've heard it before, or at least the first line of it.
It does seem to encompass sunshine and showers in the words "adazzle, dim", and highlights that contrasts are important
Thank you
