A Conversation for The Man from Delaware in Lewes
Very dark tale.

Thanks
It was Dmitri talking about places on the Underground Railroad, where people had struggled to free slaves. I thought of Lewes as another quiet place with a dark history...

Ooooh eh, mvp being darkly evocative here, extraordinary almost fevered descriptions running through all the senses.
Its taken me fifty years to get over nightmares about Lewes bonfire night, now they'll start all over again.
Its brave to write like this, definitely looking at the dark side of human nature eye to eye.
What does it feel like, having written so descriptively in this way?
I think I'd feel kind of cleared out, as if I'd been on a vision quest, a journey into what scares me the most, and returned to tell the tale.

Sorry if I've given you nightmares, cc
Perhaps that's part of the power of writing - you can face the dark side and beat it and go away more confident?

heheh, its OK mvp, you haven't given me nightmares after all. I think the part of my brain that used to have nightmares might be more integrated these days.
I think so, about facing the dark side. Such is the power of writing. Its more than just words, innit, writing. Its words attached to a journey. Or a journey attached to words.
Or nothing attached to anything. . But you know what I mean ...
Very dark tale.

A dark tale indeed - really made me shiver in horror as I read, as the words created such a strong and vivid picture... (and as I'm a disabled person, it could have been me )
I like how the story doesn't answer all the questions, but has a powerful conclusion nonetheless
Key: Complain about this post
