I went through airport security without a hitch, except for forgetting that I would need to take my (double knotted, oops) shoes off. So off I went to find somewhere to fill my collapsible 1 liter water bottle, and look to see if there was anything to do besides surf the 'net for the next 2 hours. Nope. So I settled into a chair at my gate, and started reading. About half an hour before we were supposed to be taking off, we were informed that our plane was going to be delayed for an hour. Since my layover at the next airport was originally going to be just under 2 hours, I wasn't worried--though several of my fellow passengers had to figure out different connections, as their layovers would've been about half an hour to 45 minutes before the delay. I did get in line once it had died down a bit to make sure that my assumption that I was OK was correct, however (it was). I informed the FB group of both the delay and the fact that it didn't effect me (Tom is also in the FB group, and he was tagged in the post where I was talking about this). Once the plane arrived, boarding went without incident. Once I arrived at the airport and switched my phone back on, however, I got this message from Ag, whom I was going to be staying with while in London...*
Agapanthus: Amy - you remember to get off the coach at Mitcham, yes? Yes. Don't mind me, I am fretting.
Amy Pawloski: I thought you were meeting me at Gatwick?
Then, just before boarding for the second leg started (there was a half hour delay), while I was planning to look at London transit from Gatwick to Ag's in case I was wrong, (and wondering how I'd pay for said transit as Ag was going to be letting me use her spare Oyster card, but I wouldn't get it until I met her in person)...
Agapanthus: Oh! Wait! Have I got muddled? I may be muddled.
Agapanthus: My mistake! Thoroughly muddled. Was confusing you with sister who has gone to Denmark. WILL MEET YOU AT GATWICK. I have a timetable saved on my phone and everything. Sorry! I need either to drink more coffee or drink less coffee. Or both.
Amy Pawloski: So no frantic wifi use at next airport, just boredom-staving Didn't bother to announce this delay, since the original layover at Vancouver was 4 hours. Not worried about a less-than-an-hour delay (finishing boarding now).
Agapanthus: I have spent since Sunday (when I last spoke to sister) cheerfully assuming I was meeting YOU off the coach and HER at the airport. Have texted her to check as well and she texted me back a string of laughing faces.
Agapanthus: Good Lord of Travel, I am so glad I checked.
Amy Pawloski: Me too! Having my stomach drop while still in the US is better than after I arrive...
After that bit of excitement, the flights themselves were incident free
I'd downloaded quite a few ebooks and audiobooks for long flights and train rides. Then I learned that the plane that I'd be on for the longest leg (both ways, actually) had in-flight movies available, if you had the airline's app, which I did. So, between naps, I finally watched Hidden Figures
*Ag knows the I'm telling this story.
