h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

When I was researching airfare last year, I found that flying out of the airport that is a long walk away would cost 4 times as much as flying out of the airport that's a 2-and-a-half hour drive. Heck, the airfare alone to leave from home would've been more than what I spent on the entire trip, food and souvenirs included! Even if I'd paid for all my own consumables! So I obviously opted to fly from Medford instead of Crescent City. The best flight was scheduled to leave Medford at around 9:30am, which meant I needed to be there by 7:30, which would mean leaving here by 5am at the latest--which was not going to happen. So Tom and I got a motel room for the night before, and had a mini-anniversary-trip (a friend came over to watch the girls until Tom got home after taking me to the airport).

For our 20th anniversary trip, we went on a jetboat tour of the Rogue River. We took the warnings about wetness and electronics seriously, and it's a good thing we did, for we got soaked. So no pictures. We had a wonderful time, and were mostly dry by the time we got back up to the parking lot. Afterwards, we had some quiet time together, had dinner, and went to bed fairly early, since we wanted to take advantage of the motel's free breakfast before heading to the airport.

The morning of July 20, we got up, packed away the few things we'd gotten out for overnight, packed my things into the car (Tom didn't have to check out of the room for another few hours), then had breakfast. After breakfast, we drove the 10 minutes to the airport, found a place to park, then headed in, after I had Tom take a picture of me in my bright pink shirt with my turquoise suitcase to send to Ag so she'd have an idea of who to look for (I assumed I'd be too tired to be looking for *her*...) I'd checked into my flights online the dy before, so all I needed to do was check my big bag. After that, Tom and I took a couple of selfies together, kissed, and then I went through security.

Fascinating the prices of these things, like rail tickets on different routes too, that there is such variation...

Glad you found a way to make an extra bit of holiday out of it, though
