A Conversation for BATS review of the year 2015

For me, considering what's on offer, December is about the best month for stargazing. Usually it isn't too cold and after a bit of rain you can get some surprisingly clear nights, we've had one or two recently, (although it's Nov). Also of course it's properly, fully dark.
My best aspect is generally South-easterly, between next door's house and large-ish trees at the bottom of the garden. At this time of year I can get a parade of Plieades, Orion's nebula, the double cluster in Persius and the Andromeda Galaxy, and all at reasonable o'clock without the bitter chills of Jan and Feb.
Love the rendition of Sir Patrick btw.
Looking forward to getting out a bit more in the coming month.

Hiya Deke, thanks for stopping by. I have an awesome dark sky from my west-facing back garden, I don't require binoculars to see the arm of the Milky Way and I can recognise lots of star patterns naked eye. I like studying the star clusters with my binoculars.
I am glad you liked the image of Sir P. I do miss him and our little chats. The new Sky At Night team are good but it isn't the same.
All the best
