h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It has been a long week so far, but tonight was a good evening. I got in the novelling zone and did more than 2,000 words in about an hour, and then I enjoyed my cheesy tv programmes.

<BB< may or may not be interested to know that Richard is still there in The Apprentice, as he was on the winning team. Sadly the chap I quite liked has gone, but he was punished for poor maths skills, so I can't argue with that...

Most of my cheesy television tends to be things like 'Teletubbies' (Have you wondered what the Teletubbies have been up to? Breeding the next generation, giving birth to a whole brood of Tiddlytubbies: Daa-Daa, Umpie-Pumpie, Ba and Ping.)
My week's television viewing is now 'the muppets' on Monday, 'The Last Kingdom' on Thursday and 'Doctor Who' on Saturday. I often watch a DVD instead, no more than an episode or two per day, and lately I've been watching the 1970s 'The Tomorrow People'. I've not seen the original before, only the 1990s and 21st Century US versions.

Oooer - I didn't realise the Teletubbies had a brood... Tinky Winky had Umpie Pumpie, did he?!?

I've not seen the muppets - if it is still on in 2 weeks' time, I'll have to look out for that... Also interesting about the Tomorrow People - I've seen a few clips of the original series, but I watched the 1990s version and thought it was excellent.

I really enjoyed the 1990s series and from that watched the 21st Century US version, which was completely different but still fun. Neither of those are available on DVD, alas. But I'm definitely enjoying the 1970s series – I love old children's programmes. Sometimes I even share them with my own kids, too I can't believe how gripped my son was with the old 1940s Superman serials, it just goes to show that all you need is an imagination, not special effects.
