Following up on the answer to yesterday's question (Tom will have been married half of his life on March 2, 2016), I started wondering about a half-my-life milestone that will be coming up this next year. In my case, it's not "When will I have been married half my life?"--I know I've got a few years before then. Instead, I'm wondering when I will have known Tom for half my life.

Now, for this, I know I can't get an exact date, like I could for Tom. For one, when do I pinpoint "meeting"? Is it when I thought I saw a young, skinny guy "noticing" me? (Turned out I was wrong on that account, actuallysmiley - laugh) Was it when I slipped him a note a few days or a week later saying that I thought I'd noticed him noticing me (still not knowing his name, IIRC)? Could I fudge the question a bit, and make it our first date (hey, at least I knew his first name, though I'd misheard his last name)? It'd be a bit much to make it when I found out that he was 17--we'd been dating for 2 weeks at that point (hey, it'd never come upsmiley - shrug). I was 21...

That, and I don't remember the exact date for any of that...

So, I'll pick a date that would have fallen sometime in the midst of all that. Let's say... May 1, 1995.

The other past date is much simpler--I was born December 28, 1973. Yep, I will be 42 this year.

According to the Excel spreadsheet, it is 1 September 2016 smiley - biggrin

It is interesting to think of what counts as first meeting. I first "met" my partner in 2010 when she "walked" into a virtual bar and we got chatting online, but we did count as our anniversary the date in 2011 that we sent an e-mail to each other rather than meeting in public online. We met face to face in the May and then went on a stereotypical "first date" in the July smiley - loveblush

And aaaawww.

Yes, meeting online would complicate things--at least I'd met Tom well before I (or most people) was ever onlinesmiley - laugh
