Yes, it seems they put their maypoles up here and there even was some stuff about it on the news recently.
First of all, the usual: some guys - as is the tradition - cut down the maypole on some town square somewhere. Unfortunately they obviously didn't know what they were doing and/or were drunk because it missed the roof of the fire brigade only by a few centimeters and landed right on the street, where a car crashed into it a few hours later. 
The story I liked more was about a couple of guys who worked at a zoo. They decided - also honoring tradition - to steal the (not yet put up) maypole of a company next to the zoo. Then they put it up right in the middle of the lion cage. it is also a tradition for the rightful owner of the maypole to try and steal it back... seems they didn't try that yet.
Yes... well... that's the exciting news we get here in Austria.
