Thank you - a great write up of your memorable encounters smiley - laugh

Mateys bubble bath - those were the days...

Reminds me of a couple more encounters I have enjoyed - one with Nicola Horlick some years ago, who visited our school to give a motivational speech, and a recent presentation and book signing at which I was pretty much the only willing audience member out of 10 people, and the others had been asked to hang around after the previous (10 times as popular) book signing so that TS Easton wouldn't feel too lonely...

And what a superb conclusion to the article, about Danny La Rue, whom I sadly never met, but thoroughly enjoyed reading his memorable biography smiley - applause

Thanks Matey!

Bluebottle

The Mateys Bubble Bath was actually quite a fun event. They had it at the beach in Sandown and had a giant inflated bubble with 'Mateys' written on the side. The bubble was a bouncy castle complete with ball pool, and we got to go inside and play while they gave away bubble bath to my parents, and had Duncan Goodhew there too. As the Mateys bottles had characters on, we'd keep the bottles as bath toys and also would use them as skittles etc. To this day I still prefer to get Mateys bubble bath - only fair when I've got happy memories of playing in a giant Mateys bubble (other bubble bath is available, but they never brought inflated bubble bouncy castles to my hometown).

Sadly I've not read Danny La Rue's biography - hopefully it'll turn up in one of the local charity shops as a quick look shows it isn't in the uni library.
