You have captured a "Manilow in space" moment for me, that I'm going to gleely pass on to my grown-up children (we are all closet Barry Manilow fans, but we don't discuss it on Facebooksmiley - crosssmiley - musicalnote)

I'm also reminded of Norman "Hurricane" Smith who wrote and sang one of my all-time favourite tracks, "Don't Let It Die", (singing wasn't his day job but that single is a classic)
here's a video with the song, be warned, some of the images aren't pretty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32IBF_RHAV8

But I'm glad you liked the singers. smiley - winkeye

Manilow's got his good points. Not least of which is that he inspired my favourite parody, by Ray Stevens:

Well, I never heard that before, or if I did, I'd forgotten it!smiley - yikes When I hear the name Ray Stevens I think of "The Streak"smiley - run in fact a line from that song has permeated British culture (obviously with people of a certain age) although my grown-up kids say it too, because they picked it up from me. I actually wrote the entry "Streakers and Streaking" because of my fondness for it.

The line is "Don't look Ethel!" and we almost fell about laughing when Ian and I both said the same (when one elderly lady at his Mum's Old Folks Home got out of her chair, lifted her skirt and attempted to remove her knickers). Ian turned his head and I smiley - runto find a carer to take care of business.smiley - blush

smiley - laugh Oh, dear.

Yeah, people remember that line. I think that was Steven's most popular hit.

And I remember when I looked up from my medieval research one day in the 70s, and saw the riot out my dorm window...down in the Quad, they were streaking...laughed my head off.
