Lots of nasty black soot to get rid of, there. The air ships were really cool and would have been much friendlier for the environment than modern planes are. They would have been a lot cheaper to run and quieter as well. Also the housing prices of homes located around airports would be higher as well.
Those trains were very interesting to look at, as long as you didn't have to wash your own clothes.

Looks like clerestory carriages on the trains too. I didn't know they had them in America, but then again, why not?

I'm afraid my ignorance of the ins and outs of railways at this time is abysmal.
I do know that they were a source of pride and endless fascination.
And yeah, the carbon footprint must have been enormous.
