So many things. I suppose the biggest change was the development of technology so that mankind now has the means to destroy itself.
The other significant change is the development of what is known as the generation gap.

Personally, I think that the generation gap only lasted about 30 years. The arrivial of rock and roll, then pop music, as well as cult comedy and science fiction programmes and films, learning about computer programming at school, all created an abyss between my parents and myself. These were exactly the sort of things I shared with my own children.
Having said that, there is always a certain amount of friction between the generations, which is a Good Thing. Otherwise we would still be in the stone age.
