oh... no.... no... really... I cna't touch cider hardly these days... I just get these really weird flash-backs to four-day or six-day long benders, in my youth, in bedsits overlooking the cliffs in Lowestoft! 3 and 5 AM skinny dipping in teh North sea... off our heads on cider... in November... and all that really wird stuff on the beech, with the snakes and dragons, and the witch woman, and the fires... Hmmm... we might not have just been at the cider at the time mind
Oh... OK then... I'm game or insane...

Ooh, look. The Shuttleworths is back on And the National Theatre of Brent! With Jim Broadbent That was always their best incarnation, I feel. I have some very fond memories (and a postcard) of their production of The Greatest Story Ever Told at the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn.

Goodness, there's a lot of stuff here - The Goons, Hamish and Dougal... and look what's starting next weekend - World of Pub and some Ivor Cutler I've never heard before My cup runneth over.

You know listening to the wireless, especially of an evening, and especially speech wireless, is a dying art

I'm getting into Radio 4 Extra myself - Listen Against before H2G2 is funny, and last weekend I caught Beyond Our Ken (not quite as good as Round the Horne, in my opinion, but still rather good).

I don't listen to the wireless as much as I used to, now I have a TV (even though my TV can be used as a digital radio). I'm definitely enjoying more speech radio than I used to though

I agree - Round the Horne was better than Beyond Our Ken, but that's understandable since most of it was co-written by Marty Feldman And by the time they started making Round the Horne the team was much tighter.

I like how Radio 4 Extra sometimes gives little forgotten gems of radio comedy an airing. Right now for instance they're halfway through the first series of World of Pub. Recently they broadcast some old Beachcomber episodes, and before that Big Jim and The Figaro Club.

I'm waiting, fingers crossed, for another one called The Goldfish Bowl

There's something very comforting about listening to the wireless.

The wireless is comfort... The wireless is Zen.... ergo I don't have a television Just the home service and world service, with a bit of R4 extra thrown in A lot of the dramas on 4 extra are very good too and with a lot of the metterial, especially the older stuff, Its new to me, as I never heard it the first time round

*sits cross-legged on the f floor in front of an old Bush tube Wireless, and starts folding towels* so... blissy Hmmm... actually I'd love to get the old Bush valve wireless back from my Dad's, I'm sure its still up in his loft somewhere Mind, nowdays, half the time we've got wireless through the internet, or the DAB I've got in my bedroom I do hope they never ditch FM/VHF or LW/MW

*wonders back in with a feather duster and does some dusting

Chutney. Can't have cheese and bread without chutney. And pickled onions And maybe a too Oh, wait, I can make those myself And chutney too!
