My submission for February's "Create" challenge. A bit of science-fiction fluff to brighten your day, hopefully.

This is good fun
I don't quite get the story about Edith Keeler but that's the problem with time travel - things get so confusing.
My guess as to Kirk's real soul mate? Spock.

Wasn't there an Orion woman/Shapeshifter who help Kirk and McCoy escape from a Klingon prison world in one of the films?

You mean David Bowie's wife? Hardly a romance
mvp, have you seen the Edith Keeler episode? I didn't want to surmise the entire episode. But I'll expand it if it doesn't read clearly.
I agree with you about Kirk and Spock. Women never held his interest long, Kirk always went back to his bromance with Spock.

I think this is a fun Entry too
I was a bit confused because in the beginning you mention Star Trek The Original Series, but wasn't Gillian in a film rather than the Series?
The Captain James T Kirk section seems a bit short... Maybe you could add a few more details, such as when he gained his pips.
I dunno about bromance, but I think the only one James really loved was The Enterprise herself

Thanks Sasha
I mean the Entry is about the James Kirk of The Original Series (TOS) including the films starring the same cast, shall I add that? I am entirely discounting the new films which have Jim Kirk in them.
It's difficult to know when to stop when writing about Kirk (and Spock). This is the shortened version, but I can add dates and stuff like when he became captain of the Enterprise for you.
Yes he definitely loved the Enterprise but you can't have a relationship with a ship, can you?

IN the origional TV series Kirk was so
Hmmm... not sure about his being 'in love' with the Enterprise; I think more, he was idiologically and perhaps with a hint of romantacism attached, to teh 'startfleet' ethos, itself... definatly married to his job... but ... yeh... him and Spock...
err. OH. and enjoyed the entry BTW Looked good to me

Thanks GB - excellent paragraph about Kirk
Yes, please add the extra bit about TOS and the films starring the same cast - that will make it very clear why Gillian is included.
I'm a fan of bromance etc but I never thought of it in relation to Spock... I identified too much with him, I think, and admired his Vulcan self control more than anything else... He had some very powerful romances that way...

GB, fun entry. But wasn't it fairly implied that Kirk had a relationship with the bee-hived Nurse Chappel in TOS or have I totally
made that up (it having been a VERY long time since I've seen any of the original series?

Thanks everyone
I've done some more tweaking
Majel Barrett Roddenberry/Nurse Christine Chapel - - - I rather recall that she had the hots for Mr Spock. She surely deserves an Entry of her own. I'll add her to my list after Spock, Data and Jadzia Dax.

Is it worth mentioning that many have speculated that the "little blonde lab technician" whom Kirk almost married after Gary Mitchell set him up ('Where No Man Has Gone Before' [TOS]) was Carol Marcus?
Also, no mention of Antonia, the woman that Kirk considers proposing to while in the Nexus in 'Star Trek Generations'? (Although we don't actually see her)

Oh, by the way Elektragheorgheni, it was Yeoman Rand not Nurse Chapel that was bee-hived.
Another one to consider is mentioning mountain El Capitan, seen in 'Star Trek V: The Final Frontier'. If you have the Special Edition DVD and watch the documentary, Shatner informs us "Captain Kirk is climbing the mountain, why is he climbing the mountain?... The climber wants to hug the mountain, he wants to envelop that mountain... he wants to make love to the mountain."
Actually, that's probably best ignored while we leave them to get a room...
Another suggestion better off ignored is Admiral Lori Ciana, as mentioned in the Star Trek: The Motion Picture novelisation. She not only reminds Kirk of his mother, but has also been his lover for over a year before dying in a transporter malfunction. Normally I'd not bother about novels and novelisations, but this was written by Gene Roddenberry, the man who created Star Trek.
Also in the novelisation, Gene Rodenberry informs us that Kirk and Spock were not lovers, with Kirk commenting, 'I was never aware of this lovers rumour – although I have no moral or other objections to physical love in any of its many Earthly, alien and mixed forms, I have always found my best gratification in that creature woman.'
