Recipe for Hop Ice Cream, something there currently isn't on the Internet, but I developed through reading a few home brew chat forums and trying it out at home.
This may sound weird, but it's a really tasty ice cream that you don't have to be a beer fan to appreciate.

Anyhoo, what d'you reckon to the entry?

It's written well, but I object to it on the moral grounds that someone might actually try to make and eat this monstrosity.

I think its a very well written entry - thanks for submitting it.
Can I ask a dumb question? Does it taste of beer? I really believe you when you say it has a tangy taste, but I'm trying to imagine whether there is a taste of beer or not. Or am I confusing this taste with the flavour of the malted stuff.
I don't even know what hops smell like in their natural state, the only thing I do know is that they stuff pillows with them to help you to sleep, so I guess they smell good.

It's not really a dumb question Lanza, but it is hard to answer. Does it taste of a pint of old style bitter? No. They taste mostly of malt. Does it taste of a new style American IPA? A little, but not really.
I know a beer fan who hasn't decided if they like it or not yet, another who loves it. I also know someone who can't stand beer who rather likes it. So it's not a requirement to like beer to like this

Malt ice cream I can imagine. That would be quite nice.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this just for flavouring? It doesn't make the ice cream alcoholic at all?

Purely for flavouring. You can make beer ice cream, but that's something different.
The alcohol in beer comes from yeast fermenting the sugars in the maltose, none of that is present in this.

Nice original recipe
Well written throughout, but I'd consider alluding to the previous points made (i.e. doesn't particularly taste of beer and isn't alcoholic), even though these may be obvious to an alcoho, sorry, real ale enthusiast such as yourself

I'd mention that you can freeze any leftover hops to prevent them going stale and losing flavour.

You *can* but that's still debated as whether you should or not. Seriously, it's a debate that I've heard waaaaaaay to often

A perfect article for summer - let me know when it arrives.
I didn't think reading about Hop ice cream was odd, but then where I come from they make garlic ice cream...
I'm surprised no-one's made a 'Don't hop when you're eating your ice cream' joke yet.
Only thing I can think of to suggest is perhaps consider linking to a few of these:

This sounds like something I would seriously like to try.
I don't know if I can get hold of hops, though, unless I raid a hop field, which we do have around here.
How can you have a "pinch" of hops? From what I remember from the Guiness museum in Dublin, seeing hops close up, they are about the size of a small pine cone. In fact you describe them as cones - I am assuming "pinch" is the brewer's expression.
You "hop" from the first person (we need to make sure) to the second person: (You really don't need...). Is this intentional?
Some sentences are rather cumbersome.
>>You don't need or want to boil the milk<< is not really recipe-ese. I'm not saying it has to be, but it would be more usual to just say "Heat the miilk but do not boil", or "Heat the milk without boiling, stirring until the sugar has dissolved"
Also the first paragraph under "Hops" is rather cumbersome, too. Well, this sentence is:
>>When making beer, the hops are boiled to release the oils, but with ice cream we don't want as much oil out of the leaves, so we need to make sure to only warm them.<<
It may be the use of "we" that stops it rolling off the tongue. I can't put my finger on it for the moment.

This is an interesting recipe - though I don't think I'd try it myself.
Do you know how it was invented? Was it just a beer enthusiast's experiment?
A cople of quibbles:
under ingredients, I would add the metric equivalent of 3 oz (75 grams?)
under methods, I would suggest 'there are no lumps'.

everything I was going to say has been said up there ^^
but - I'm with TC and I'd really like to know what a "pinch" of hops is.
It sounds, strange. I may have to try this (but I would use my ice-cream machine)
One thing. We make a fair bit of ice cream. There are two ways, one is with a kind of egg-custard which does cook the eggs. The other is just beaten eggs and cream (the Ben & Jerry recipe). I wonder if you could adapt these to use hops too?
Also, in the Ben & Jerry recipe book they say that the most important ingredient in ice cream is air. Is that also true for this one?

Sorry folks, this hasn't been forgotten but life has got in the way. I'll try and get alterations made soon.
