Definitely a strange critter. I liked your rendering with the owl looking on! Tell me does the fur only grow on the north side as moss on trees? Curious researchers want to know. I don't think I'd like to run into this critter in an alley. smiley - yikes

Oh hi Elektra, I only see this posting of yours now! I'm doing some back research because hooganod behaviour has just come up in folklore about pygmy hippos! Anyways: over here moss doesn't just grow on one side of the tree ... it would be south here not north ... but not even that, most generally grows all over trees if there's enough rain. There is not enough difference in light exposure because we're closer to the equator. And in Central Africa (where this thing does NOT live!) there's even less of a difference.
