Can you say Sark's postboxes are normally blue, when there's only one of them?
Nice effort, BB. I might be inclined to reduce some of those long quote sections, but you've certainly got the subject covered

Tweaked a little.
I must admit I love local newspaper stories and the random comments that members of the public come out with - my favourite's the one saying that the showjumper should get a gold postbox in this village as it's where his is from.

The NI paralympians are to get gold post boxes as a special measure.

That's great news - I've added some more about the Northern Ireland gold medal controversy, and that they're getting postboxes painted after all.

Very honoured, BB, but I don't think you should include me in the list of contributors. I followed the thread with interest, but, not living in the UK, was unable to contribute, and even succeeded in nearly derailing the thread at one point.
Anyway - it seems a very comprehensive entry. I'm sure it'll be picked and edited quite quickly. Well done.

Great entry <BB<
I had heard about some of the vandalism but didn't realise it was so widespread
I hate to suggest another h2g2 link but I think it's important ---> A53569092

You weren't behind the painting of the Doddington, Lincolnshire postbox, were you, GB? What vandalism had you heard of?
Links to red and green articles have now been added.
I hope no-one minds, but I've added Beatrice, Elentari, HonestIago, Icy North, Mol, Pink Paisley and Sho into 'Additional Research By' credits. If anyone has any comments or queries regarding that, then let me know.

Me? the only painting going on by me is my bungalow redecoration!
I think I heard one news story on the BBC news.

Good entry, and an interesting read.
My only comment is that you've used the term 'a researcher' which tends to be a little clumsy but I can't think of a better one.

You also deserve credit, BB for covering Lymington but not once mentioning that ferry service to the Isle of Wight.

Don't tempt me
Z - I've deleted the 'a researcher' bit. I wasn't entirely convinced that the researcher quotes said anything that wasn't already covered elsewhere in the article, and seemed a little out of place.

Not sure if anyone has picked up on this, it doesn't read right:
<>
may I suggest :
For each Gold Medal won at both the Olympics and Paralympics, not only would a commemorative stamp1 be issued but they also declared that in each of the gold-winning athletes' home towns, a postbox would be painted gold in their honour.
