It's so frustrating if you can't really see any improvement despite all your efforts. I guess a lot of other sports are more efficient in that regard as you can do them every day 8like cycling), so after a few weeks you'll definitely feel the progress you've made.
There can be drawbacks, too, of course. I'm terrified of having to brake on my bike after I fell off it a few weeks ago. And I wasn't even injured.

It is frustrating as a lot depends on circumstances, like the weather, which is beyond my control. But I'm trying to think around it and it is progressing slowly.
Your new bike looks great. Hopefully you'll be able to get the brake to work without any more trouble. I know it's a great pity when something like that spoils it for you.

Thanks. The trouble with those brakes is that they work too well, and I don't know how to dose it.
Weather is always a topic if you're doing outdoor sport, but it has to be absolutely horrible to present a danger (although I wouldn't recommend to cycle in torrential rain, storm or thunderstorm).

That's a difficult one. I don't know, but being a new bike have you had the brakes checked by the supplier to make sure they're set-up and adjusted right? Presumeably they should be progressive without snatching.
I can see that not having the back-pedal brake that you're used to could be a problem if it's not there when you expect it to be.

The brakes work exactly like they're supposed to work, it's just that I'm not used to brakes which actually make your bike stop.
And I'm not used to using the front wheel brake (ie I never used it on my old bike), but currently I always use both because I cannot remember which brake is on which side.
