Thanks a lot Elektra and Rod. It is a very nice experience to spot an owl sitting motionless in a tree in the daytime. I didn't spot these little owls like that, yet, but one of the things I did enjoy a lot was spotting some Giant Eagle Owls in a huge riverside tree once in the Kruger National Park. These owls are about ten times as big as the Scops Owls but it was *still* very hard to spot them! I'll try and paint them some time for sure. I think I've a new commission for an owl painting thanks to this article. I think I'm going to make it a White-faced Owl, which is probably the prettiest of all our owl species.
