Nice painting, Willem. You must do a fair amount of research along with your paintings

Looking at this and then checking out your Javan and African White rhinos, it occurred that Kipling meant something like this one, for his 'Just So' story How The Rhinoceros Got His Skin. Though the story's set some way away.

Hi Rod, thanks for commenting! Yes, I do research about everything I paint ... well actually I am really, really interested in the things I portray and I *want* to find out about them and share this with other people.

Thanks for the link to the Rudyard Kipling story as well! I have never read the 'just so' stories before, I'd like to read some of the others also when I have time. And yes, I doubt that there had been any rhinos of any persuasion in the Red Sea region within known human historical times ...
