Haven't managed to catch up with them yet, but Christmas and my studies have really got in the way.
Of course the downside is that this was probably my only opportunity to jam with one of the world's greatest players, and having only been playing for about a fortnight I was barely competent at the time. Hey ho!

It is still that you had the chance to do it in your hometown. Could you network with any of your fellow enthusiasts?

Got contact details but the next get-together was the following night and I was buried under Dip work. Next one is after the Holidays so we'll see about that.
Current repertoire extends to dreadful stoppy-starty versions of House of the Rising Sun and Passenger, with Back for Good, Rockstar, and I Want To Be Like You in the works (emphasis on the 'dreadful' and 'stoppy-starty'), so quite what we will get up to together I do not know.

You *have* to learn to play 'Over the Rainbow'.

Oh, but it's such a cliche... not to mention you're putting yourself up against some really, er, heavy-duty players for comparison.
(Not that I Want To Be Like You isn't a standard - if only I could figure out the pattern for the chorus...)
That said, I'm currently still really limited in terms of song choices by things like tempo and how fiddly the chord changes are.

Ah, it'll come with time. All musicians started life fumbling over such things. Unfortunately the only known cure is practice.
Key: Complain about this post
