Ah pleased to see this tucuxii smiley - smiley

I haven't read it thoroughly yet, but a quick scan shows it seems to have all the right bits in the right places.

Could other reviewers please read and comment here, even if only to say you've read it. I'm sure you'll have something to say - but ignore the trivial stuff that the sub-ed will deal with as a matter of course.

I was just going to ask whether you had considered mentioning House of Industry records (admittedly the period ends in 1837, only 3 years after the Poor Law Amendment Act, but workhouses did exist before then) as well as Muster Rolls, records of who was able to be enlisted in the case of a French or Spanish invasion, kept for many counties along the south coast.
And of course the old fashioned method of going to the graveyards in the parish where your ancestors lived and looking at all the headstones.
I would also mention that surnames often changed spelling. For instance, when researching my own family tree, my surname of Sprack is also spelt in a wide variety of ways including Spragg, Sprake and Spraggue.

The International Genealogical Index (IGI) is no longer available online as a separate, searchable database. See familysearch.org

I did mention the spelling of family names changing in the section on what to expect from family records and will be writing something on the origins of family names either in Part III or as a seperate entry

This is brilliant. smiley - biggrin And wonderfully thorough. I like the way you've connected the idea of genealogy research with an inquiry into social history. And answered those people who seem to think that genealogical research is an exercise in snobbery and vicarious bragging. smiley - winkeye

Me, I've got some ancestors who were noble visionaries, and others who were dodgy characters. The one's as interesting as the other - just a window into 'What was it like?' smiley - laugh

Right at the end, you used the word 'forebearers'. It should be 'forebears'.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
