This is an older one from the archives that I thought might get the ball rolling. It has an Asimov feel to it and I wanted to do something that broke the cycle of the "evil doll" in fiction as well as talking to my Philip.K.Dick obsession and his lifeline examination of the question "What does it mean to be human?"

Please excuse any wonky formatting.

Tim.

smiley - aliensmile Ooh. I like.

It reminds me of something I wished Ray Bradbury had written. Instead of that thing about the robot nanny that ended up on 'Twilight Zone'.

Great idea. smiley - biggrin

Thanks D.

I took a lot of care over this, I really wanted the reader to understand that, for the woman, time stood still due to the monotony of her existence whereas for the doll it's all over in a flash. I wanted to install a sense of regret in the character - something that would undoubtedly become apparent after the story was over...

D,

Any thoughts on the other story - the protracted zombie apocalypse joke?

I'll have to try that one again. I'm afraid the first time I tried to read it, I became hopelessly confused. I may be too unsophisticated to get the joke. smiley - laugh

The wholly acceptable alternative is that it is, in fact, rubbish.

These things happen.
