Firefox, Brunel.
Should the Ask H2G2 page A148907 have a big 'Help Page' at the top?
It doesn't really strike me as a help page. Has it always been a help page? I guess it could be -- we're asking each other for help, I guess.
Is that the way it's supposed to be?
I notice everything in C821 comes up as a help page. It seems even more odd for the Games Room.

It always has been. It annoys me immensely too. I suspect that it's deep in the bowels of how the site is built though. But it would be lovely to have page formats that were perhaps

or maybe others.
Is my thought.
As a researcher.
Other realities are available.
Perhaps.

Reality is a figment of my imagination.
I have a warped imagination it seems.

I hope you didn't take "never mind" from what I said, anhaga.
I do agree with you about it being most odd that Ask is a "Help" page.

A brilliant change over.
Help pages are being updated and several threads concerned with the transfer are still open. Not sure where to post.
This thread seems to be the right place to ask:-
Is there any need to change attitudes on h2g2 with regard to a finite space in which to operate ? I run my computer using the 200gb that are available. I clean it up, mainly to help me move around, but also because as I understand it helps keep up its speed of response. This gets to the real point of the question.
Can/should researchers treat h2g2 as a bottomless pit ?

Now, I didn't say that
We've got more than enough space at the moment, and DNA was built *very* well so speed's okay too.

PS Note you said < at the moment >
We stayed at the last place for ten years.
In my working days we worked on the planning base of a 5 year plan.

There's more than enough space for initial estimates for the next few years, so there's no worry there. We're on nice blade servers that can be expanded as need be

It's good talking to you Pastey.
I wouldn't know a nice blade server from a pen knife.
The email is separate from the internet.
In some way could the Message Centre be separated from the general conversations ? These conversations along with those related to are special.
PS I have this number so no need to reply by return.
If I get to be a pain in the rrrs please tell me.

It's Convos related to Peer Review and Guide entries as well as the Message Centre that are special.
Often miss out a word or two. It's my age you know.

everything at the moment is all in one database, but it caches beautifully. we do plan however to alter that in the future, but that's longer term.
the blade servers basically allow is to just add another one, and another one a bit like adding new hard drives to a computer, but we're adding more processors and memory too.
Key: Complain about this post

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
