You can link to Edited Entries in h2g2, but not to Unedited ones.
You can link to exernal sites as long as they are not offensive, grossly commercial or youtube.
Those are the current rules. We're still debating what will be acceptable after the move this weekend.

shame bout you tube as i have nearly 100 videos there, however i suppose other video sites would not be prohibited?

I'm not sure what the BBC's objection to Youtube was. We're moving to a new site this weekend, and the new site will have slightly more relaxed rules. I can't see any reason why we should disallow Youtube on the new site, but it will be up for discussion.

If the content on youtube is yours, I think you could be allowed to link to it. At least you'd be allowed in . It's just the copyrighted material that's not allowed to link to in . And we have our own youtube account: http://www.youtube.com/h2g2aviators with material which is partly integrated into edited guide entries.

Bel, the current rules say that there are no links to Youtube allowed in the Edited Guide, with the exception of the h2g2 AViators. But that's only until the weekend, when we take over.

Yes, I think the reason is that we have no way of checking whether the youtube clips are copyrighted or not. Better safe than sorry.Personally, I'd stick to that rule (with the exception if you definitely know who made the clip and agreed to our T&C etc).

You tube - all my own material - no problems there.
Im afraid to say my little brain is a bit confused here - i can use you tube material, i cant use you tube material, i can if it comes from your site - i can if i own the copywrite so let me guess - i can if i made and posted the film.
Black and white is so easy - its the shades of grey that get me confused.

Alas Bertie has ed. I'd like to propose Flea Market as this has the basis of a promising article.
