The opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympics always attract a lot of coverage, and are usually huge spectacles.
My daughter is auditioning in the next few weeks to be in a cohort of dancers performing at the 2012 opening ceremony. I shall report back on her progress!

and That sounds like a wonderful experience. I'm looking forward to reading all about it. s and to you both - as usual, you're right in the swim of things.

OOhI could do an entry about opening ceremonies couldn't I? The strange conventions, the history of them, the utterly bizarre ones in the past.
Also there's all that stuff about politics and The Olympic Games as well. The Nazis, the hostage crises, the tit-for-tat boycots, each of those is fascinating entry.

Amen. We're still got all that to cover.
We need an entry on odd factoids - who travelled farthest, who did something really unusual to get there, etc.
