I definitely belong here...mostly due to the fact that I get smashed to bits everytime I have the creation/evolution debate, because nobody will believe me...I need proof, and that's what I say. May I join?

If you want help with such a debate, start one on a thread to the Reasearcher "Justin the Preacher"'s page. THere are a bunch of skeptics as well as simply reasonable people who argue with him about his fundamentalist views. There are plenty of people there who would join in on your side in such a debate.

shouldn't there be a buries-head-in-hands smiley somewhere? daneel, i went to justin the preacher's page, and nearly lost my breakfast. i have *never* known any h2g2 page to be even half as emetic as his... even more so when they pull a calm i-am-holier-than-thou-and-i-feel-desperately-sorry-for-you-poor-worm act. i'm in full support of ste, but have not yet been able to compose my thoughts sufficiently to write something that will not break any house rules. i think i will go out for a first...

emetic = vomit-inducing. usually used to describe really foul-tasting medicine and equally foul characters. and we're referring to justin the preacher's page, although if you don't have a strong constitution i would advise you not to go there.

It does take practice and he loves to Yikes people. Just read his pages for a while and it gets easier to take.

erm. he does? i think i haven't been exploring the guide enough - how can you tell when a person has 'yikes'd another's post? i thought the mods would have removed it by then?

Justin's U number is U195767.
You can tell a post's been Yikesed because its replaced with a message saying "THis posting has been remoeed because it violates the house rules" or something like that.
YOu can't prove who it is, but I'm pretty sure Justin'r reponsable because no reaonable person would be offended by some of the things that have been Yikesed and he's the only unreasonable person on the thread.
Of course, he always violates the houde rules, so you can Yikes him in retaliation for any Yikesing he does.

ah, yes... i see now. having read his rants, it's strange how the mods haven't booted him out of h2g2... or is it impossible for a person to have his account terminated? (like nighthoover)

I don't know why they haven't. They've come close a couple of times.

i suppose that when one clenches one's teeth tightly enough, one can actually find his rants quite *comical* because basically he's like the stereotype buffoon who thinks he knows everything, but actually gets them all mixed up. i suppose i shouldn't laugh... tolerance, tolerance...
