Yup; as aximilli says, it's a friendly site, if you say you are a newbie, most people will give you ahelping hand if you need it.
One thing that will really help is if you write some sort of intro on your personal Space, makes it much easier for people to contact you. It doesn't have to be long & detailed & you can change it later, but gives people some idea of who you are.
