Hi. I'm new and I think that everyone in this conversation has reacted very caringly. H2G2 is a very good site for people feeling what other people are going through and trying to help. That researcher is right. The depression is a thing of our minds. No matter how down you feel, how much you want to end it, you can remember that the good things in life are there for you and they won't let you down. Smiling at someone can increase your awareness of how un-necessary depression is. It is a figment of our imagination. Even the fact that you have posted a message on this site because you are feeling so bad, that's a step forward and it is only a short road to becoming happy. It's like a great weight thrown off. If you are unhappy, change your lifestyle, quit your job and get a new one, do things that make you happy. If you know what's making you unhappy, then do everything in your power to make it better. If someone has to drag you, kicking and screaming, back to reality, then let them or do it yourself, and taht's the truth.

Thank you for those nice and kind words, researcher 240709!
I'll repeat the advice I gave to the researcher who originally started this thread - please write something/anything on your user page, using either 'Edit this page' on your user page, or this link:
<./>UserEdit?Masthead=1</.>
...because that'll create a 'Discuss this entry' button, and it'll make it possible for people to visit you and leave you messages
..or continue posting here, if you feel more comfortable with that

Hello Researcher239841 Aka On the way up”
I've never suffered from depression myself, I have friends who have and from time to time still do, I’ve felt down but that’s a human for you: I’m glad I was born in to a breed that is almost top of the food chain.
I would not won’t to be top of the food chain anyway, that’s bacteria, and they lead an uneventfully short life. Something I found helps some times (Not all, and not for every time) but will lift a soul.
My Sammy’s story.
Sammy would be fine one day, She would get a small problem them another, these would pray on Sammy’s mind for a few days. This would pull Sammy down, she would then neglect other things and they would turn in to problems to. Over a week or two this leads to depression and she starts running her self down (I cant I’ am useless, that sort of thing) this in turn leads to the more small problems. The circle is complete she is in a Morpheus loop. At this point Sammy’s life was one big problem and full of people she thought where seeing her as worthless, useless and un-wanted, just as she did her self. She asked my advice one day. I’m not a doctor or anything, so I did not really know what to say for the best, and did not want to make things worse. So I did not offer Sammy any advice. I chickened out of the human race.
That night I lay in bed thinking off answers to Sammy’s question that night. Going cluck, cluck, I gave up after a short time, the following day I awoke feeling guilty, my friend had asked me for help and I’d fobbed her off. I went around to Sammy’s place that morning; She was not over pleased to see me. In fact I think if Sammy could have found a reason she would have ask me not to call again.
I did not know what to say. We stood on her doorstep looking at each other for an eternity. I bit my lip and blurted out, I’m sorry I don’t know what to say. I am afraid of saying something that makes things worse. She looked at me for a few seconds moor and said. Ok do you won’t a second go at it them, She asked.
We spent hours at the kitchen table with hot tea and toast and some of the most unusual things as toppings “ Like cheesecake on toast” Just talking straitened out a few things” like she thought I was sick of her”, and that hurt her. She asked, Why don’t life’s down’s get you down.
I could only answer, they do, but I simplify life to help, “explain” she asked.
Well something’s in life or often made complicated by lots of humans interacting.
Some things in life are complicated and I don’t think one person can deal with them.
So I have seven rules
1..Try to brake it down in to small chunks and deal with them one small bit at a time.
2.. Ask for help form family or friends.
3.. If you cannot brake it down, simplify it, make a decision on that, and put on the back burner for later. 4.. Get on with the small chunk you can do something about
5..You only live once don’t waste it (have fun).
6.. Family and friends are special.
7.. Humans just like you, are just like you.
What happens if it doesn’t work she asked (forever the optimist a) if anyone says’s anything. I say, “I am only human with only one life, or why, can you help, do you know the answer?” We spent some more time on examples that day and I went home wondering if I hade don anything wrong But as rule 3 and 4 say!
My Sammy don’t suffer so badly nowadays, she only has a down week her and there, Sammy’s getting really good at brake it down in to small chunks now.
Sammy’s friend.
PS Sammy’s friend ant that good at English
