If no-one else has anything to add, I hereby declare this finished.

Having checked the book, I still can't find a direct reference to Tunnel Of Love.

There is no direct reference to a particular song in the book, just to Mark Knopfler. DNA confirmed some years later that the song he had in mind was 'Tunnel of Love' (see Neil Gaiman's 'Don't Panic', if you have nothing better to do )
Sorry for any confusion I may have caused...

I'm still not 100% (or even 50%, come to think of it) convinced that the addition of this information would improve the entry in any way.

I must say I don't think the DNA would add anything to the entry- you've got this pretty much perfect, seems to me, and you don't want to go disrupting it with rather spurious bits.

Douglas talks here (/F38761?thread=56266) about Mark Knopfler's playing style that I reckon might work after the second paragraph...
At least that was always in my head when I was looking to update this one...
It looks good, though...

I agree, Jimi.
Would anyone be greatly offended if I credit DNA as a co-author? I know that there has been some iffiness about people posthumously crediting him on other entries.

Master B
After all we went through!
I thought we'd established that the opening BLOCKQUOTE ought to be from Sultans of Swing, not Romeo and Juliet. It's supposed to be an entry about the band, not your soppy love life ...

Late night posting - terrible habit.
I'd prefer it if Douglas wasn't credited to be honest. Co-authorship should be reserved for things that are either collaborative or else started by that person but taken on by another. Adding him after the event isn't really fair.
I've been hovering over this one for ages, so it'd be good if we could have it complete and polished by the end of the week, because that fifth slot in the 'Recently updated' section is going beging, and besides, Trade Descriptions might pull us up about the word 'Recently'...

So, is this (as the saying goes) 'done'? Are we ready for this to become our update?
Don't all shout at once now.

Yeah just ignore my comments. As always.

The other reason I don't like using a quote from Sultans of Swing is that that line was written about a jazz band, and was nothing to do with the Straits themselves who did not play 'Swing'
