A Conversation for Tucson, the perfect boredom of

Tucson, perfect boredom of...

I dunno, I've seen Tucson and its a fair seight better than some places in the Southwest although it does get very hot.
I didn't need eyes sprouting from the back of my head just to keep from getting mugged like in Phoenix. And its more
fragrant than El Paso Texas, which most days smells like a huge burning Zippo lighter. Both places are a few hours
down the road from there.

My friend Sparrow did vanish and get swallowed up whole by the place though. She had likened Tucson to a
roach motel for humans. Disappeared into Tucson's telemarketing purgatory, last I heard. Even so, Edward Abbey, author of
The Monkey Wrench Gang and other fine novels of the West, lives there and it hasn't stilled his creativity one bit.
Oh, the FBI maintains its Winter training academy just outside town. So there's always
a Fed lurking around wherever you might need one.

Travelers' Advisory: A while ago I had limped into Tucson driving an old Plymouth with a burst brake hose and
pulled into the first open garage I could find, which was a Pep Boys on the West side near the Interstate.
They replaced the burst, rusted-on brake hose in about two hours, didn't overcharge me or otherwise take
advantage of my predicament and the hose lasted until I sold the car a couple years later. A good place to
keep in mind for emergency repairs, although your mileage may vary.

I also found a good place for used tires behind the big truck stop in Albuquerque, NM where the two Interstate
highways meet, but that's for another posting.

So why is the "C" in Tucson silent...?
