Those are fun words but a mod is a mod.

Please, for the sake of clarity, call things what they are. Don't make newbies learn an entire language.

That's an interesting point HN. 'Moderator' is pretty universal on the internet in terms of being understood (in a general way). I know that it took years for me to understand the the different Volunteer roles - it wasn't necessarily apparent by the name.

Yes, for the sake of clarity, call things what they are, How about 'Censor'.
Perhaps that wouldn't fit in with the image though. I think I'd prefer to keep it as it is.

I have issues with the current state of moderation here but I prefer to keep the term moderators.
Now if anyone wants to call them something else unofficially, I see no problem with that.

I prefer to keep the term as it is. I don't see the need to have a quirky new name for everything. We all know what it means, we won't have a decade of posts with one name and hopefully a decade with a new name, not so much work to change all the pages. Isn't there enough work to do for the changeover?
Every single site I go on they are called Mods. Don't cripple us, please!

The Whitehouses?
Or how about the Pacifiers (or as we say in the UK, the Dummies)?

If people want to keep the name mod, that's fine by me. I just don't want to be tarred with the same brush, you see...

Does this mean we're having volunteer moderators on the new site? That's so wrong, sorry.
And if it goes ahead and people do it, I'm sorry but whatever name you go by you'll get it in the neck. Comes with the territory.

Well yes we *all* know that. Hence respect for mods. I have no doubt whatsoever they will be respected in the noohootoo.
I'll be speaking up for then regularly if necessary.

For me personally, any bad feelings I have about moderation on hootoo are for the BBC and what they've done to the system. I don't feel badly towards the actual moderators, as I assume they've just been given poor guidelines on how to moderate here (as opposed to the rest of the bbc).

For what it's worth, I think the moderators should be called 'moderators'. It's what's they are. There's enough pointless relabelling and rebranding in the world as it is; let's not add to it.
There's probably a better way to say that, but I'm tired and need sleep.

Well I'll stick up for the BBC. The present custodians of the BBC should be ashamed of themselves. The BBC has been tarnished by the kind of people acting on its behalf.
I'm hopeful that in the post Murdoch era that things will gradually return to normal.
And we'll of noohootoo be part of the post Murdoch era.

I quite liked the idea of stewards, but it seems everyone wants to call a spade a spade.
I truly do hope that everyone in noohootoo shows the new volunteer moderators the respect that they deserve, instead of making life purposefully hard on them.
