Can we have a high-level technical strategy meeting?
I've just been to the Roslin for a seminar. I think there's a possibility that we can clone some Mammoths who will do a stirling job on the servers.
Think but with much bigger wheels.

Do you know anyone who's good at hearding mammoths?
I've heard that they're basically like cats.

That teaches me to post while working, I suppose. I just lost track of them. One moment they're here, the next moment they're not. And they leave no
, so they're hard to find...

Mammoths are actually quite a good idea. But I think that they might be a bit overkill at the moment. We're able to run nicely with the hampsters and gnomes, but mostly this is because they've reclusive and hard to spot.
If we get the mammoths, then yes they'll be able to do the job, but then people might start to realise that this isn't a normal website after all.

MMm.... I see your point, one-half of a million visitors during the past month would realise that.
But doesn't the growth in visitor numbers merit getting the s out?

Well the gnomes helping the hampsters have managed to handle the server traffic really well, and the gnomes do seem to breed like gnomes. Yes we need more of them that if we had mammoths, but I think it's more a "brand" type thing. If people found out that we're not normal they might think we were a bunch of internet weirdoes that their mothers warned them about, and it's kinda hard to miss mammoths.
I think the longer we can keep going with the gnomes and hampsters the better for all concerned. At least until it's too late for them to run away

Yea, but who's going to build a wheel that big?

I think they've gone to ground.
If anyone finds a gnome, can they please return it to the technical feedback area where we've got the facilities to hold them.
Thank you.

It was me, Geggs. I blame myself. Pastey was right, I should never have mentioned them:

Great, and now you've let Elton and his brood out.
I'm going to be spending the rest of the day chasing these to try and get the servers working again

Yes, but they're not very quick are they.
They're strong, reliable, etc, etc. But these little blighters are quick.

Actually, that's a good point.
I'm going to see about getting some super strength fly paper to try and keep the gnomes in.

Well, a would be a great excuse if someone claims h2g2 is behind the times - we can point out we're surprisingly modern for a site run on
