Cool photo, reminds me of those creepy English tales about the haunted woods...
And if they're aren't trees, well, I'm certifiable, anyway. That's what it looks like to me.

they are strings of garlic/onions/bulbs
recognising paterns and interpriting them into recognisable shapes is a very human trait that the brain does on a unconcious level, canals and faces on mars, jesus on toast etc.
