Entry: Empire State Building - A854237 Author: Dr Montague Trout - U188966 I'm not man enough to do this alone. This is sort of taking over from the other one (A3213). All contributions are welcome. Here is a previous conversation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F101837?thread=218085&post=2513516#p2513516 Dr Trout PS – An architect is absolutely required to clean up the hyperbole!

Of course, you haven't been to NYC if you haven't been on top of the ESB!
Perhaps it's worth mentioning that in support of the claim to be the 8th Wonder of the World, there are mosaiques (sp?) of the 7 other (ancient) World Wonders in the entrance hall.

Thanks. In case I forget here's something U204088 sent me ... I like what I see. I think Sleepless in Seattle ("http://us.imdb.com/Title?0108160") had a scene at the top of the Empire State Building, didn't it? So did An Affair to Remember ("http://us.imdb.com/Title?0050105"). The RKO film King Kong ("http://us.imdb.com/Title?0024216")in 1933 is probably the most famous though. Another good ESB site is "http://www.aviewoncities.com/nyc/empirestate.htm", it also has a link to a factfile on the World Trade Center which you could use ("http://www.aviewoncities.com/nyc/wtc.htm"). h2g2 wise, A586677 (World's Most Beautiful Buildings) makes a passing, and I mean passing, reference to the ESB, but it might be good to include it because of all the other buildings mentioned. The h2g2 entry on New York City (A199389) is another link. More Links for you to consider including are - A472394 (on architects, though might not be useful, it's also unedited); A790896 and A782264 (on Chicago, again unedited). Hope all this helps, Oberon2001
