Trains

aka Bel - A87832164

I've travelled a lot and usually by train. Last week, we travelled from south to north on regional trains only. I was pleasantly surprised that the trains were so modern and comfortable. I remember the sort of trains you describe all too well. smiley - smiley

Yes. smiley - rofl. This piece is very atmospheric on the subject of trains, even though this theme is sort of like a side order accompanying the main theme. I'll have the lemon sole with a side order of train headache. heheh.

I know this kind of train, too. Do the East Anglia ones have those overhead electric power lines? Lots of sparks and clanking and lurching.

I think this conversation might put me in trainspotting mode. heheh. smiley - rofl. hmm. I do love a train. That moment when you go to the buffet car for coffee and then have to walk back to your seat, trying to balance the coffee whilst falling into the lap of a stranger, as the train takes the corner.

And then there are night trains. Ah yes. Night trains.

There's a stream train where we live, in Devon. Its a tourist attraction. Motorists screech to a halt on the bridge as their vision is obscured by a puff of steam, and they think they just saw a ghost train. Then all the trucks and coaches pile up behind them. Its good though. Atmospheric. Kids love it. And photographers.

I think that East Anglia trains are meant to be newish, overhead electric trains. It is only when you see them and then ride in them that you realise that slow steam trains can be cleaner, faster and more modern. They are certainly more fun...

Still dinner was good (twice) even if we had the trip back hanging over our heads.
