Towel Day is an international celebration of the life and works of Douglas Adams. Observers of this holiday honor our site's founder by carrying a towel around all day. Every Towel Day is an opportunity to meet hoopy towel-toting froods and introduce curious strangers to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Some Ways To Celebrate Towel Day 2011
Take your towel to work or school. Reread your dog-eared copy of The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. Use your towel smiley here on h2g2.
Visit the Towel Day website to find a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster mixing contest or a Vogon poetry reading. Sign a petition asking Google to recognize Towel Day.

Three h2g2 Ways to Celebrate Towel Day:
- Wrap your dog in a towel. Take him for a walk and wait for people to remark that it isn't raining.
- Replace tinfoil hat with improvised headgear made of artistically-folded towel. Explain that this not only keeps you from losing your towel, but will come in handy if the Vogons start dropping bricks.
- Take your towel to the nearest pub. Demand that it get its own seat. Order it drinks. Then use it as a weapon when you get into a fight with the only ignoramus in the place who has never read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. After trouncing him completely, offer to buy him beer and peanuts.
