A Conversation for The Hall of Scavengers

Starting to scavenge

Afternoon all!

Here's the thing: I'm interested in becoming a scavenger and updating some old Flea Market entries but I just want to check I'm going about it the right way. So:

smiley - star I have to post a message in the conversation forum of the old FM entry and explain my intentions.
smiley - star I create a thread on the FM homepage to the same effect.
smiley - star I leave a message on the original (Elvised) poster's member page.
smiley - star I re-write the article in GuideML via the Test..... url thingy and post the new one in my FM thread.

I'm confused about the sequence of events though. Do I have to re-write the article before I start my Flea Market thread? Do I need to get permission from the FM bosses/h2g2 editors before I can re-write it?

I'm keen to contribute but don't want to spend time updating articles only to discover I've missed something and therefore wasted my time.

All help greatly appreciated! smiley - cheers

You've got the process down pat my friend smiley - ok

As for your questions:

"Do I have to re-write the article before I start my Flea Market thread?"

No, not at all. In fact best you don't. If you start work, then finish something, post to the FM thread and then have an answer from the original author, or another Researcher, saying they would prefer you DON'T update because they're in the middle of something, or would like to collaborate, then you're scuppered!

Post your intention first, wait a bit for feedback, then get cracking if nothing is forthcoming smiley - ok

"Do I need to get permission from the FM bosses/h2g2 editors before I can re-write it?"

No. smiley - winkeye

Good luck Scavenging!
