Hi Pally I watched Andy Pandy (I thought Andy Pandy was a girl), I remember one episode in Mary, Mungo and Midge when Mary broke her arm.
I also watched Barba the elephant, Trumpton, Danger Mouse, Clangers, Paper Moon, Wurzel Gummidge, Cat Weazel, Bagpuss and Camberwick Green.

Well Hector's House and Andy Pandy were puppets in the first instance but they have turned Andy Pandy into a cartoon now.
Mary,Mungo and Midge was a cartoon as were Care Bears and Rainbow Bright.
What else
Hold on and I'll go back and check.

I think they were models and they would take a frame then slightly move them and then take another frame`and so on so they were a cross between puppets and cartoons.
I think you can put Camberwick Green and Trumpton in the same category as this.As they were filmed in the same way as Wallace and Gromit.

that's sorted then...
the interesting about the magic roundabout is that tho' the original version was french the story was very loosely adapted in english to the point that the story wa completly different... the word translation definitely doesn't come into it...
but till fun all the same.. a bit more controversial than the original perhaps...
talk soon...

i forgot about the ending of every magic roundabout...
in france it has to do with the "marchand de sable" [sand merchand] passing by... and when his sand touches our eyes we close them and go to sleep... aaaah...

That could be an interesting entry loup.If you get hold of the French version of the Magic Roundabout and then compare them to the English versions and find all the differences. It would take you ages though to try and do that.
It would be interesting to see the differences that the translations make as well.
Whoever does it though would have to have a good knowledge of French as well as English so that counts me out
Have fun

might be easier than that actually... there was a TV programme once where they interviewed some of the actors who did the english voice-over... and that's how i discovered that no-one had bothered to translate the story they just made their own up in english..
some great political undertones as well if i remember that programme well... dougal [sp?!] being actually de gaulle...
worth a look and make a parallel between the original version and the err alternative [english] one tho'... plus there was some surprises that it was not banned as there were rumours that was of the characters was always stoned [?!] hehe... there is more to this TV series than we would think it seems..
oh look we've got half of the entry done already...
i will try to get a transcript of an episode in french and see what can be done from that angle...
talk soon...

Plus it could also be the first recorded case of BSE or as Dougal might say "mad cow" disease
Poor Ermintrude As kids we used to muck about. You know kids grow cress Well we used to get hold of the cress or a flower or something and just have it hanging from our mouths I think I was about 3 then .We had some giggles with it though.
But yes I think you will find that Dillon the hippy bunny was always stoned.Makes you wonder what would have happened if he ever met Weed from Bill and Ben the flower pot men

yeah dillon... that's the one..
i wonder if he sounds stoned in the original version [i can't remember he did]... gonna have to require the services of some of the french researchers on hootoo, they might be able to get hold of a one of the videos... then i will be able to compare that as well...
